Every Picture Tells A Story Don't It

Masterpiece recognised at last!!

posted by Mike Walton

When I was 17, I did a pencil drawing of my idol, Rod Stewart, and entered it into an art contest at school. It didn't place, but I did get an honorable mention. It was the only "Rod" art I did back in the day. Through household moves, marriage, family, and life in general, I chucked just about all the artwork I did in school, but couldn't part with this one. I kept it stashed away in my sketch book. Then, the wonderful folks at SMILER - Rod Stewart Fanclub announced they wanted to do something different for Rod's 2015 calendar and asked Smiler members to submit artwork for the calendar. WELL GUESS WHAT...... Got my calendars a few days ago. BA-BAM!!! there's my picture next to the credits. To say I'm honored, speechless, proud, humbled, and totally freaking out is an understatement. Besides the fact that the man himself, ROD STEWART, and his lovely wife Penny, previewed all the pictures for the calendar. (OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!) Thanks to Yve Paige & Mike Walton at Smiler for producing top notch products for the fans, for your dedication the past 33yrs, and for keeping us fans connected to the man, the voice, and the legend that is Rod! Aloha from a grateful fan for over 41yrs - across the two ponds!
