Rod and Penny donate Hello! fee

Grenfell Tower fire victims fund to receive donation

posted by Mike Walton

Rod and Penny have donated the fee from their vow renewal wedding shoot in Hello! magazine to the Grenfell Tower fire victims fund.

They renewed their vows last weekend at their 18th century mansion and also asked their guests to donate to the relief fund.

The devastating fire ripped through the Grenfell Tower block in North Kensington on June 14 leaving 80 confirmed dead but the true death toll will not to be known until later this year.

Speaking on Loose Women today [Thursday], Penny said they wanted to give back while celebrating their special day.

“My husband just said: ‘Look I know we said no gifts but how about I just hand a hat around and everyone makes a donation to the terrible fire that happened in Grenfell Tower

“And everyone was generous to do that and Rod quadrupled it and then afterwards we wanted to make some more money and thought we could sell some of the pictures.

“While the ceremony was going on we couldn’t help but reflect on all the families that were suffering and we were there having a fun time.

“But in the same essence it’s important that we put our arms around each other and share those moments together because you just never know do you?
She added: “So Hello! have been generous with a huge amount of money towards the fund in exchange for a few pictures and an interview.”

The big Stewart party was attended by around 100 family and friends

Speaking to Hello!, Penny said “Being able to reflect on those ten years, and say those words to one another and still know we mean them is important. This felt more special.

“You get married with the hope that you’ll be together; when we renewed our vows, we said them not with just hope, but with a reassurance. Along with hope, there is also faith, love and bringing all the family together.”

Penny also revealed all their guests donated to the fund and Rod quadrupled the amount they raised.

Rod told Hello! “Penny is my whole world. Love means many things to many people but to me it’s wanting to share everything with the one you love and I love Penny now more than ever, if that is at all possible.”
