‘The Ronnie Wood Show’ on AXS TV

US Fans get chance to see classic Ronnie shows

posted by Mike Walton

The Ronnie Wood Show will make its U.S. television debut when AXS TV presents season one of the U.K. series, beginning on July 11. The program will air two episodes each week back-to-back at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific with encore broadcasts every Sunday night.

Hosted by Ronnie himself, the network’s announcement notes: “the series gives viewers a unique look into Wood’s award-winning radio show—bringing them behind the scenes and into the studio as he plays the songs that inspired him, shares stories from his prolific career, and sits down for revealing interviews and intimate jam sessions with some of classic rock’s biggest names.”

On the July 11 premiere, Ronnie is joined by Paul McCartney, who reminisces about his career before performing a set list of songs that both powered his career and impacted his life. In the interview, the pair talk about such artists as Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye and the Beach Boys.

Other guests in the series include shock rock pioneer Alice Cooper, who talks about the Detroit rock scene and shares a humorous anecdote about a stage stunt gone wrong (July 18 at 8 p.m. E); Wood’s Faces bandmate Ian McLagan, who reflects on the band’s ‘70s heyday (July 18 at 8:30); and Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash (July 25 at 8 p.m.).
Mick Hucknall (Aug. 8); guitarist Steve Cropper, who reminisces about writing “(Sittin’ On) The Dock Of The Bay” with Otis Redding and crafting the trademark “Soul Man” riff (Aug. 8); and Pattie Boyd (Aug. 15).
