I checked out Rod Stewart in Budapest

Papp László Budapest Sportaréna 29/1/2018 review by Attila Solyom

Sir Rod Stewart has just started a brand-new tour and was honored by home fans who enjoyed the second stop of the tour in Budapest.

The event held in the Papp László Budapest Sports Arena was a sell out. But strangely the arena was a seated only venue, which was a bit strange for me, because the first half of the show was filled with up tempo party songs and I joined 100 to 150 fans singing and dancing in the front rows [I was glad I had bought a ticket for the front row ] Then an acoustic part followed an hour of rock and roll. Rod himself sent the hoards at the front back to their seats, which was quite funny.

Instead of listing all the hits i will talk about the hero of the evening, Rod does not look his age, you would think he's as young as 30 years. He seems ageless revealing his kind, playful world to us.

For other world stars, we usually say that "They should grow old gracefully". Well, for Rod Stewart, we can say that the passage of time has to be ignored in his case!

Everything was so spectacular on the stage that we were not able to take our eye of Rod for a second, But we heard emotional saxophones many times and other solos, a bass guitar, and sometimes a double bass, and the percussion was amazing with two drummers doing the drum solo! but the harp was always been my favourite musical instrument ever.

Jostling between Security and some overzealous fans was going on constantly the fans jumped up as if ready to have a party for every song but the security wanted them to sit down again, but one beautiful moment happened when one guy came from the back and begged one security guard to let him stay for one number so he could record it from close range..The security guard took pity on him and let him stay..respect!

The atmosphere at this party was so good that everyone in this seated arena was up by the end, the vocals on Proud Mary were so powerful that it was not possible to stay sitting down during the song.

At the end of the show balloons fell from the top of the arena and Rod kicked footballs to the audience. It was a super ending, and I caught the last ball !!
