Ronnie donates guitar for injured footballer

Guitar could raise around £6000

posted by Mike Walton

Ronnie Wood has donated a signed guitar to help raise money for a partially-paralysed Essex footballer.

Ronnie has joined a host of celebrities who are supporting Billericay Town goalkeeper Nicky Morgan,

Nicky suffered serious spinal injuries after trying to break up a fight outside a nightclub, in Brentwood, in October.

Nicky's family are trying to raise £100,000 to help fund his treatment and buy rehabilitation equipment.

And Ronnie's Fender Stratocaster guitar will be the star lot at an auction of celebrity goods and football memorabilia to be held during a benefit night tomorrow.

It is hoped that the guitar will fetch at least £6,000.

The fundraising evening is being held at O’Grady’s Irish Bar in Ilford High Road, where Mr Morgan worked as a doorman.

The auction will feature more than 80 items, including football shirts and boots signed by David Beckham, Carlos Tevez, John Terry and Wayne Rooney.

More than 1,200 tickets have been sold for the event, which starts at 7.30pm. Admission on the door is £6, or £10 for two people.
