THIS
COULD be the type of book that Rod's fans have been waiting
for... a book for the fans, written by the fans.
It starts out with a brief history of Rod's career and from
there goes to a great in depth interview with Rod's sister Mary.
It also includes a section called 'Memorable Quotes from Rod
Stewart and Friends' which is actually the 'Recorded Highlights
& Action Replay' feature reprinted from issue 50 of SMILER.
The remainder of the book features stories Rod's fans have written
about their meetings with Rod and friendships they've made with
other fans.
As I find myself quite often saying, "The things I do in
the name of Rod!" It was fun to actually read what other
fans have done!
I must say I am disappointed with the quality of the book. There
appeares to be little or no editing carried out to the fan stories
and I feel more care could have been taken over the reproduction
of the photographs which are, for the most part, fan snap shots.
Had the author provided a brief history of each person submitting
their story, for example how long they had been a fan etc.,
it would have made the book more enjoyable.
As we are generally starved of Rod Stewart reading material,
this book is a welcome addition to my Stewart book case. However,
it will really only be of interest to the die-hard fans.
