THE Helping Haiti single has become the fastest-selling charity song of the century so far. Shifting 200,000 copies in its first two days on sale, Everybody Hurts has overtaken the X Factor Finalists singing Hero for Help For Heroes, Westlife's Comic Relief cover of Uptown Girl and Band Aid 20.
The charity track - featuring Rod, Leona Lewis, Take That and Robbie Williams - is certain to be No1 this Sunday, knocking off Owl City's Fireflies after five weeks.
Martin Talbot, Managing Director, Official Charts Company said: "This is a phenomenal achievement. "The public are certainly not showing any signs of charity fatigue."
Retailers - including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, Bhs, Argos and BP Extra - stock the single for around £3.99.
It is also available for 99p as a download only.
Half the money raised will go to The Sun's Helping Haiti fund and the other half to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
More than seven million tuned in to see clips of the stars recording their parts before ITV1's Dancing on Ice on Sunday, The picture of Rod was taken as he left the studio after recording his part last week.
All proceeds of The Sun's Helping Haiti Appeal will go directly to a charitable fund set up by the Charities Aid Foundation (registered charity number 268369).
