''I want to make a blues record,'' Rod told Rolling Stone at a pre-Grammys party. ''You know, Muddy Waters, the old stuff, and I want it to be backed by the Black Keys.''
''We responded that the collaboration had the potential to be amazing,'' the report continued. Then, in a moment of modesty, Rod asked, ''Do you think that they know who I am?''
The good news for Rod is yes they do..The Black Keys' Patrick Carney said on Tuesday that he had liked some of Rod's work.
''I'm not that interested, obviously, in the standards,'' Carney said, referring to the series of Great American Songbook CDs Rod has recorded. But he was admiring of some of his earlier work as part of Faces. And he is aware of Rod's late-'60s collaborations with Jeff Beck.
