Scotland has been given it’s very own entry to this years Eurovision song contest for the very first time this year and have become one of the favourites to win by announcing Rod Stewart will sing the winning song chosen from the new spring STV show ‘Euro - Your Choice’

Scottish singing legend Lulu will host the show and viewers will be asked to vote for the song they think will give Scotland the best chance of winning, when the winning song is chosen it will be presented to Rod to add his magic and turn the song into a song worthy of representing the country in this historic event.

The European Broadcasting Union officially entered Scotland into the contest on Tuesday and Scotland’s head of light entertainment Drew Peacock said “we are proud to have such a great singer as Rod representing us in our first attempt at Eurovision, he was a wee bit unsure at first but when he realised Celtic were playing at Red Star Belgrade the following day it clinched it for us,”

Bookmakers have made Rod 2/1 favourite to win the contest even before the song has been chosen, he is up against The UK’s Andy [X Factor] Abraham and Ireland’s entry a Turkey puppet called Dustin.

This is not the first time Rod has flown the flag for Scotland he recorded football anthems for both the World Cup 78’ and Euro 96’ football campaigns.
