Led Zepplin’s Alembic Series II 8 string bass is among the rock’n’roll artifacts the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum took out of storage to create a new display. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is bringing its treasures out of the vault and putting them on display for all to see. The exhibit, Treasures from the Vault, is in the Ahmet M. Ertegun Exhibition Hall.
The Rock Hall has more than 25,000 artifacts in its collection but only 4,000 are featured at any given time. The remainder of the artifacts are stored in the Museum's Baker-Hostetler Collection Storage Vault or at various off-site facilities. This exhibit will let visitors view artifacts from artists such as Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart, Jon Bon Jovi, the Bee Gees, Aretha Franklin, Sting, Alice Cooper, the Clash and many more.
Artifacts being featured include:
* John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin bass guitar
* Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake & Palmer acoustic guitar
* Bob Marley handwritten lyrics to "Turn Your Lights Down Low"
* Tina Turner dress from the "Private Dancer" video
* Sly Stone beaded vest
* Slash of Guns N' Roses top hat and leather jacket
* James Taylor's first guitar
* The suit worn by Elton John when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
* Handwritten lyrics from AC/DC, Metallica, Jethro Tull, the Band, Donovan and Billy Joel
